Hello! Welcome to the Autist’s Palette, the blog section my little corner of the internet where I share my art, thoughts, and experiences as a queer, non binary, autistic artist. I'm excited to be starting this website and can't wait to share my passion for art with you all.

Art has always been a huge part of my life. As a child, I was drawn to the fantastical worlds of sci-fi, fantasy, and comics. I love the art form of sequential art and narrative storytelling. As I grew older, I began to explore different styles and mediums, experimenting with everything from pencil drawings to digital painting.

Something I’m passionate about is finding the sacred in the mundane. Finding beauty in the overlooked things. It drives a lot of my ethos and how I see the world, and it’s the inspiration behind a lot of my art, like my Etobicoke series. Etobicoke sits on this weird intersection of gentrification and abandonment, so there are these beautiful juxtapositions in the architecture around town of an old run down hovel right next to some post modern architectural masterpiece. There is beauty in the often cracked, broken, and abandoned places of the city I grew up in.

“Abandoned Care Home” painting by Jeff Baker, part of the Etobicoke Series.

ID: Two cats stand investigating each other in front of an old abandoned care home. The windows and doors are boarded up, there are cinderblocks in front of the basement windows, and the foliage around it is overgrown. Lake Ontario is seen in the background.

As an autistic person, I've always seen the world a little differently. I'm sensitive to stimuli and can get overwhelmed easily, but I've also developed a deep appreciation for the details of the world around me. Autism has given me a unique perspective as an artist, and I hope to share that perspective with you through my work.

This is the first blog post of many, I plan to talk about my experience as an autistic person, what art inspires me, and maybe even talk about my process or make how-to blogs and videos. Leave a comment to let me know where you’re from and what you’d be interested in hearing about!
